On May 11, 2019, Shirley A. Burch, Detroit Police Commissioner and Founder of Community United for Progress (C.U.P.) made history by bringing together the city of Detroit and Highland Park in a collaborative effort to beautify their communities by painting the water reservoir on Dequindre in preparation for local artist to create murals telling the historical stories of the cities.
